Little precious gems

Two of the "English Roses" originals are leaving the house for their new place in a private collection in Germany.
I am very happy to have found those exquisitely handcrafted wooden frames.
They really do compose with the artwork and can grade up any wall  with a beautiful finish of fine metal plating in white gold.

Marie

The portrait of Marie is a very personal drawing. Marie was my great-grandmother who was born 1875 in Northrhine-Westfalia. She married at the age of 34 and lived with my great-grandfather and her two daughters in my hometown Schleiz in Turingia where they were running a hotel business until she died 1944.
Creating a drawing of a person from the past was a special challenge however an interesting experience at the same time.

The picture of Marie can be viewed online among the selected drawings.

The drawing is echoing the oil painting portrait of my great-grandfather Gustav, Marie's husband. You can find his portrait in my website-gallery.
