25/8/2016 0 Comments Not long nowThe artwork that I shipped to Santorini for the Biennale has arrived in good conditions and the gallery team can arrange the hanging. I am going to travel quite a lot in the next weeks but looking forward to meeting friends, seeing the Biennale exhibitions and enjoy the summer on the Aegean islands. Last week I was finishing a piece also inspired by the blue and white washed greek churches. Especially on rocky Santorini you sometimes get these delicate sheets of light fog in the morning or evening. It has something mystical to me together with the sun above. Here is a quick shot of the final painting. Santorini, 2016, Oil on Canvas, 100 x 100 cm

From the first idea to the final brushstroke, the pieces that I have created in preparation of the Biennale have become some kind of symbolic companions to me and encapsulate all those things and thoughts I encountered when asking myself what is it that makes us human and what is our relation to lifetime. The answer as I found it is empathy, that deep lying feeling within the heart's core. And so it's with empathy how my paintings will hopefully speaks to the visitors of the Biennale on the spectacular island Santorini. Yet, I am still very busy with all preparations and will post more updates about the accompanying events on the special webpage: http://www.artinuum.com/splash_santorini.html |
